I have 3 reasons for this venture:

Reason 1:  I call “Prima Facie”, which is Latin, meaning “At First Look” or “On Its Face”.

I would like to provide some Webster definitions for reference.

CONGRESS:  Legislative body of a Nation and especially of a Republic.

LEGISTLATIVE: (1) Having the power to create and make Laws.  (2)  Relating to the making of Laws.

LEGISLATOR: One that makes Laws, especially for a political unit; especially a member of a Legislative body.

CAREER: (1) A profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as a permanent calling. (2) a field for or pursuit of consecutive progressive achievement, especially in public, professional, or business life.

I found this synonym for REPRESENTATIVE that I thought was interesting and funny: “SPECIMEN”. Feel free to refer back to these definitions as I continue with Reason 1, and please remember that no part of this project is politically motivated.

Things I wish to accomplish as an outcome for Reason 1 of this walk:

  • A: To establish this concept:  No person can make a CAREER of being a LAWMAKER.

  • B: To make this idea the #1 issue/topic, or a very high-priority concern, in the minds and hearts of all Americans.

  • C: To take a look at the incentives given to representatives.  What does one get from being a Senator or Member of the House? Read BusinessInsider’s Top Congressonal Perks

  • D:  Select a Congress Member… Past or Present… Take a look at their life with questions being:  Who were they before office? Where did they come from? Where are they now as they Represent us? Where did they go AFTER?... and I say AFTER lightly because AFTER seems to coincide with catastrophe or death in the lives of Incumbents. www.ballotpedia.org

  • E: Notice the unfair advantages of Incumbents versus a Challenger.

  • F: Note the % of Incumbents remaining in office (power) compared to newly-elected Candidates.

  • G: Please watch this video clip of Nick Tomboulides, Executive Director of U.S. Term Limits addressing the Senate in 2019

  • H: For everyone to look not at this issue politically, but as language defines (prima facie) and math proves.

As a mathematical equation I would present it as follows:

Equation: The longer the time one can remain a creator and maker of laws is directly proportional to that individual’s susceptibility to becoming: corruptible, bribable, dishonest and apathetic… and inversely proportional to that individual’s possibility to epitomize: being attentive, accountable, conscientious, mindful and contemporary.

Reason 2: The ALLEGORY.

As I view it, no one is more POWERFUL than a career lawmaker, let alone a group of them; moreover 2 groups of them.

I am focusing on the POWER issue. It takes a powerful person or a person that perceives they have power, to exploit another person’s life or traffic a human. I won’t connect the dots on this, but I will say that there have been too many instances of POWERFUL PEOPLE being suspect of, busted, or being very close to people involved in inappropriate practices. That is enough smoke for me to say, “There is a fire here somewhere”. People who are exploited and trafficked don’t even have a Red or Blue choice.

I think the deeds of exploiting a human are of the most horrific sort; slowly stripping the soul from someone to which even if they escape their situation, the victim may be traumatized for life. As I said, connect the dots for yourselves. Thus my company’s donations to these organizations:

If your life’s choices boil down to Red and Blue, don’t invite me out for ice cream. Thanx, I’ll pass.

The Legislative Branch sends out the clear message of divisiveness and benevolence, but I feel a different clandestine message: It is not “Me too”. It is not “Black lives matter”. It is “Rich lives matter.”

Finally, I am suggesting that “We the People” are going to have to band together and demand Term Limits; thereby making the term Career Legislator (LAWMAKER) an oxi-moron or as a term only referred to in historical dialogue.

Slightly off subject and food for thought:  The last President elected as an Independent was George Washington, so if the Electoral College is just Red or Blue then an Independent cannot be President.

Reason 3:  In the past 20 years I have slowly lost my soul.

I could and should have been a better husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, co-worker. I did not quite see it happening until it was late in the game.

I have not been good to myself, and that oozes onto everyone that I am around. I used chemicals for emotions and wound up a basket case with very little coping skills.

I want to deepen my soul, regain my sincerity, honesty, be inspired to live. Be quiet, be humble, be real, find purpose, listen, share, and be shared with. I am going to film everything I can capture and the thought of sharing that with everyone is exciting to me. I hope to see some great stuff and through all of this be a better human and do something good.

In 1849, French writer Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr wrote “plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose,” meaning “The more things change, the more they stay the same”. Turbulent changes do not affect reality on a deeper level other than to cement the status quo (A change of heart must accompany experience before lasting change occurs).

In the future, if Congressional Term Limits are not put in place, I would not get too excited for the Blue team or angry at the Red team. As a Nation, we will remain divided, complacent and left with that familiar feeling of helplessness. Our issues will continue to be addressed at a glacial pace and the chance for contemporary, relevant ideas and TRANSPARENT, HONEST law making will remain obscured deep within this broken system.

I am thankful that in almost every other facet of life, I have more choices than this.

“Prima Facie”

Thanx,

Iz
